It’s time to get ready for the trenches as we go to war in Barcrest’s Call of Fruity slot machine - one of their most popular releases to date, and after you play it you won’t be at all surprised. If you are a fan of video games you will quickly realise that the ‘Call of Fruity’ title is Barcrest’s cheeky take on the blockbuster first-person shooter Call of Duty franchise, just don’t expect the same level of graphics!
Rather than a gun, it is a peeled banana which accompanies the Call of Fruity military styled words to make up the logo, with the rest of the design tying in with the theme nicely as well – even if it is in cartoon style. The background is cladded in camouflage with barbed wire acting as a border for the reels, bullets have been used to highlight the individual paylines you can play, and the spin button is styled on a radar – very cool.
Leading SWP manufacturers of the 1980s and 1990s were: Coinmaster, JPM, Barcrest, Bell-Fruit, Maygay and Ace-Coin. The themes of many SWP games were (and still are) based on popular TV quiz shows, board games or other aspects of popular culture. Initially quiz machines were 20p play offering a £10 maximum prize per play.
Call of Fruity has a 5 reel, 10 payline structure and can be played from a mere 0.10 up to 500 each and every spin. With a bright and fun design, quirky sound effects (including a drumroll when you spin the reels), exciting bonus features and with a payout percentage of 95.20% this is a must play Barcrest slot!

Ok, ok pun indeed but the symbols in Call of Fruity really are ‘super-duper’ and a pleasant change from the dull and boring ones we are so used to seeing many of the online slots from Barcrest.
The main symbol to look out for is the Wild which is represented as a war medal with the words Wild scribed across it. This is joined by the Call of Fruit logo, three different fruity soldiers (a strawberry, lemon, and watermelon), a pineapple bonus symbol in the shape of a grenade, aeroplane bonus symbol (which certainly doesn’t look like a Chinook), and finally Ace and King playing card symbols designed in military font.
Of course, the Wild symbol is the highest paying of these worth a massive 500x your line bet when you land five on a payline, while the strawberry soldier, Ace and King symbols only pay 100x respectively.

Fruity Features
There are three fabulously fruity bonus features to enjoy in Call of Fruity all of which promise to boost your bankroll. Of these three the Pick Me bonus round triggers most regularly and from it you can then activate the BombSight Bonus, however the really big wins come from the less frequent Fly-By feature which always promises big wins when you gain access to it.

Pick Me Bonus Round
Landing the pineapple grenade bonus symbols on reels 1, 3 and 5 on the same spin will see you trigger the pick me bonus round. This sees you select one of the three pineapple grenade symbols which landed to gain you access to the feature – two of which hide a multiplier bonus while the other contains a bonus symbol that activates the BombSight Bonus feature.
BombSight Bonus
Bombs away! The BombSight Bonus sees you select one of twelve bunkers, with each one containing a multiplier. The lowest valued multiplier is 20x while the highest valued is 500x, with all of them listed.
After you select a bunker the option is removed from the list so you can identify what multipliers remain, then you can click the ‘Make Me An Offer’ option which sees you offered a multiplier win based on those that remain. This reminds me of Deal or No Deal, with the offer you receive being larger if you have the big multipliers still intact – but be careful and use your judgement wisely, you can only request an offer three times and then the feature ends.
Fly-By Bonus
Three of the aeroplane bonus symbols landing anywhere on reels 2, 3 and 4 see you activate the Fly-By bonus feature with these three reels turning Wild and locking in place. You then sit in suspense as reel 1 and 5 re-spin hoping that more of the highest paying Wild symbols land in these positions to lock in a massive win – and from my time reviewing Call of Fruity that’s usually the outcome.

Call of Fruity Conclusion
I love Call of Fruity – and guarantee that you will too! It’s a fabulous take on the Call of Duty franchise, and let’s face it slot machines are meant to be quirky and fun. The design is great and screams fun as soon as it loads, but it’s the bonus features that really make this slot. The Fly-By Bonus is extremely lucrative, but the Fly-By bonus feature is my favourite as you can request offers and then choose whether to cash in or take a risk for even more.
